What is in the New Orleans-area senior care directory?

Every adult residential care provider, nursing home, home health agency, hospice and adult day health care center on the Louisiana Department of Health's October 2026 Licensed Providers Report for the six parishes, with CMS ratings for certified nursing homes.

How is the directory built?

From bulk official data only: LDH's monthly licensed roster, LDH's own location directory for ARCP levels and capacities, and CMS Care Compare for nursing homes; no facility website, review site or aggregator is used.

28 ARCPs licensed for 17 or more residents and 35 CMS-certified nursing homes have their own page. Smaller homes are listed as roster rows, because a page with nothing but a license number and a capacity would add nothing the table does not already show.

What does the directory not show, and why?

It does not show ARCP inspection results, complaint outcomes or dementia program disclosures, because Louisiana does not publish them in bulk, and it shows no ratings of its own.

Each ARCP must post its latest statement of deficiencies on site. See how to check a Louisiana provider's record.

Which are the largest licensed assisted living providers around New Orleans?

By the capacity LDH's directory lists, the five largest ARCPs in the six parishes are SummerHouse Vista Shores (New Orleans, 162), Inspired Living at Kenner (Kenner, 160), The Carrollton (New Orleans, 138), The Windsor Senior Living Community (Mandeville, 136), The Blake at Colonial Club (Harahan, 130).

Size is not quality, but it shapes daily life: a large building has more staff on each shift, more activities and a dining room, while a small home has fewer faces and a quieter routine. Use the roster's level filter to see both.

How should I use the directory with a senior advisor?

Use it to build a shortlist you can verify in an afternoon: pick a parish or city, filter by level or CMS rating, read the facility pages for the license dates and inspection data, and then ask an advisor about availability, current rates and fit for your parent's needs.

An advisor can tell you things the state does not publish, such as which buildings have a waiting list or a current opening, or which ones accept residents who use a mechanical lift. Anything an advisor tells you about a license or an inspection you can check here.
