Who is New Orleans Senior Advisor?

New Orleans Senior Advisor is a free senior care referral and advisory service for families in New Orleans and the five neighboring parishes, built on the Louisiana Department of Health's own licensing records rather than on facility marketing.

We publish the rules, the costs and the licensed roster first, because a family that understands Louisiana's four ARCP levels and Medicaid's limits asks better questions on a tour. The service itself is a conversation with an advisor, who listens to what your parent needs and suggests licensed places worth touring.

Who pays New Orleans Senior Advisor, and why does that matter to you?

Communities that work with referral services pay us a fee after a family we introduced moves in; families pay nothing, before or after.

Any referral business carries a built-in tilt toward the communities that pay it. We would rather name that tilt than hide it. The directory lists every active license in the six parishes whether or not the provider has ever paid anyone, and an advisor will talk through any of them with you. If a recommendation does not come with reasons you can verify on the state record, ask for them.

What does the directory include, and what does it leave out?

It includes every licensed adult residential care provider, nursing home, home health agency, hospice and adult day health care center on LDH's roster for the six parishes, with the state's own license dates, levels and capacities, plus CMS ratings for certified nursing homes.

It leaves out online reviews, ratings of our own invention, aggregator listings and facility advertising. When a number families ask for has never been published, such as a New Orleans-only price or a memory care median, the page says so instead of guessing.

How can families or providers contact New Orleans Senior Advisor?

Call (504) 238-3464, write to advisors@neworleanssenioradvisor.com, or answer the short care-match questions on any page and an advisor will be in touch; providers who spot a display error in their state data can use the same address.

For an emergency, call 911. To report possible abuse, neglect or exploitation of someone 60 or older in Louisiana, call Elderly Protective Services at 1-833-577-6532.

Which part of the New Orleans area does New Orleans Senior Advisor serve?

Six parishes: Orleans, Jefferson, St. Tammany, St. Bernard, Plaquemines and St. Charles, covering both banks of the river and the Northshore from Madisonville to Slidell.

Neighboring parishes such as St. John the Baptist, Tangipahoa and Lafourche, and the Mississippi Gulf Coast, are outside our directory, though an advisor can still talk through options there.
