What do CMS star ratings measure?
CMS's overall rating combines health inspection results (the heaviest weight), staffing hours and quality measures into a one-to-five-star score that compares a nursing home with others in the same state.
Inspections are done by LDH's Health Standards Section on CMS's behalf. Ratings are relative within Louisiana, so a three-star home here is average among Louisiana homes, not nationally. Each facility page shows the inspection date and deficiency count behind the rating.
