Which senior care comparisons matter most in Louisiana?
In Louisiana the comparisons that matter follow the state's own lines: a small Level 1 or 2 home versus a Level 3 or 4 building, a Level 3 ARCP versus a Level 4 that can provide nursing, and Medicaid's home-based programs versus a nursing home, since Medicaid does not pay for an ARCP.
Those distinctions come from Louisiana's rules and programs and do not map neatly onto how national websites describe senior care, which is why we compare by license level and program rather than by brochure category.
How should I use these comparisons?
Use them to narrow the license level and payment path first, then use the directory to find which New Orleans-area providers hold that license, and only then compare individual buildings on cost, staffing, records and emergency plans.
The assisted living roster can be filtered by parish, city and level, and every nursing home page shows CMS staffing and inspection data next to the local median.
